About Sylvia Wayfer-Clark

"40-40-40" is the brainchild of Atlanta wedding and event planner Sylvia Wayfer-Clark.  Sylvia has been in the wedding industry for over 15 years, has coordinated numerous weddings and events, is the founder and national chair of the National Association of Certified Wedding Day Coordinators, and currently has a popular local wedding TV show entitled, “Let’s Do Weddings!” featured on Comcast Channel 25.

“40-40-40” is a unique event for the Atlanta area.  The purpose of the event is to raise money for the Atlanta Children’s Shelter.  In its first year, the event organizer’s goal is to raise $5,000 in cash and gifts for the shelter.

While the concept of fundraising isn’t new, “40-40-40” breaks new ground in fundraising events.  Specifically, “40-40-40” stands for 40 weddings & receptions in 40 hours for $40 dollars per bride/groom.  The format is a “Wed-a-thon”, where couples will participate in a formal wedding ceremony and reception with the full compliment of traditions – first dance, cutting of the wedding cake, bouquet toss and more.  With the first wedding starting at exactly 8:00am on Saturday, November 14, 2009, and the final wedding being held midnight, Monday morning, there promises to be non-stop action and electricity throughout the weekend.

“I have always been involved in programs and charities that benefit children, and this event gives me the opportunity to help with our critical need to assist children and families that have suffered misfortunes or from abuse.  At the same time we can help couples experience a wedding to cherish forever, without the expense of today’s typical wedding costs.  It’s a perfect ‘marriage’ of events and I’m so happy to be involved.”
